In the evening, while I sit and watch TV, I have started going back to sketching faces. I miss the 29 Faces challenge. I really enjoyed that. So I am just sketching faces, then putting them aside and using them to add a spark on the backgrounds in my journals.
BOOK OF DAYS 2014
This is my first one. I sketched her with pencil in a watercolor tablet I had. Then used my Prismacolor pencils to finish her face and hair. Then an Extra Fine Tip Sharpie for her eyes and lashes. I fluctuated back and forth between liking her and seeing all of her flaws. Then I decided to make a background for her. I used some craft papers, stamps, napkins, washi tape and of course some pens. Glued her on the background…and now I love her.
I have names her Lady Dianna. I don’t know why. I have a sister named Dianna, but she doesn’t necessarily look like my sister. She just told me her name was Lady Dianna. So there you go.
I wanted you to see the stamp I used on the background. It was given to me by my friend Dawn Howell. I just love it! It is the veins of the leaf! Isn’t that wonderful! It comes with four various stamps to a pack and is by Inkadinkado Stamping Gear. All four are wonderful.
Even though this is in my Book of Days 2014, it does not coincide with Effy Wild’s prompts. I am having trouble working with the prompts, but do not want to give up my BOD. So, I am just creating my own pages and adding them to my BOD. After all, I know Effy would tell me it is MY Book of Days and therefore I need to put in it what feels right to me.
Here is another page I have completed in my Inspiration Journal. The quote I copied from somewhere…sorry I don’t know the author (let me know if you do and I will credit them). ” Breaking someone’s trust is like crumpling a perfect piece of paper, you can smooth it over, but it’s never going to be the same again.”
I used craft paint, stamps, washi tape and crumpled paper.
This was done with the same process. First sketching with my mechanical pencil, then completed with Prismacolor pencils, and finally a Sharpie pen. I have tried to paint my faces, but find it very hard. I may try again. Maybe. Someday. LOL
